Steven Ger's Commentary of the Book of Acts makes the early church come to life and will instruct and encourage you to be a witness for Jesus Christ in your home and community.
21st Century Biblical Commentary books have become some of my favorites. They have figured out how to author a commentary, while giving you the element of a normal book. Steven Ger (Sojourner Ministries) does a fantastic job of providing insight, explanation, and even injecting his own view of things from a Jewish Christian. After reading this in parallel with the Book of Acts, I was able to enrich my understanding of the journey that the Apostles took in the first century, while also benefiting from commentary for each passage I read through.
This book was not only interesting, but also entertaining and easy to understand. The main concern I always have with commentaries is they’re going to be overly academic, making it hard to understand or even dry to read.
That just wasn’t the case with The Book of Acts: Witnesses to the World. There was never a dry moment and the information packed in each chapter helped me understand and appreciate more of what was going on during the first century, as the church was expanding.
I would recommend this book for anyone. If you’re looking for a research source, you’ll find Ger to be a wealth of knowledge that you can use. As a commentary, you’ll find this packed with explanations of each verse in Acts. Maybe you’re just wanting a good book to read, you’ll find you can’t put it down. Don’t hesitate to buy this one. You won’t regret it.
