Dead in Trespasses

Ephesians 2:1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

We’re all dead at some point.  Sure, in the beginning before salvation, we were dead.  But I believe we’re also near death in more than one place.  Do you ever get that stiff voice inside you that says “You’re spiritually dead.”  Do you ever explore that voice and start to examine yourself?   You should.  It might be a warning that you are.  How do you pick up the pieces?

Revelations 2:1-7 gives us the letter to the church in Ephesus.  This is the first of a series of 7 letters to 7 churches.  Revelation 2:4 gives the condemnation from God that they have lost their first love.  Who and what is that first love?  God and the Church.

Now continue reading into Verse 5 and Jesus reveals how we can make things right.  We need to rewind our thoughts to where we were before we started to die again.  What do we need to do?  Repent.

Today, cry out to God and ask him to forgive you for letting the fire inside you grow cold.  Ask him to rekindle you and pick up your Bible and read.

Lord, please forgive me for I am a sinner.  Help the fire to burn deep within me so that it never can be quenched.  Help me to show the world you in me.  Amen.
