Book Review: Follow Me

David Platt, author of the book “Radical” and founder of Radical, Inc. penned a beauty while nailing discipleship on the head. This isn’t a step by step “how-to” book of discipleship. This is a long, hard look at you, the Church, and your duty as a Christian.

Follow Me starts out with a look at unconverted believers. We’ve all seen or met these people. People who do the routines and “prayed the prayer”, but don’t seem to be connected to Christ in any way.

From there, Platt takes you through 7 more chapters of The Great Invitation, a look at superficial religion, your personal relationship with Jesus, God’s will for your life, and ends his book with a 6 step plan for your life of being a fisher of men. This book will make you want to help go after all the people groups on Earth.

The book ends with an area to take that 6 step plan and write out your plan. You’ll go through each of those 6 questions that Platt lays out, and pen your plan. I found this to be invaluable, as this is a topic I’ve struggled to take action on for one reason or another. The guide focuses on you, your one, and their future ones. It is complete and will challenge you to continue learning and sharing.

If you’re looking for a book that will convict you on every page, and make you think about things deeper than you ever have, then this is the book for you. I would not hesitate to read it before all other books on discipleship.
